The Salone del Gusto Slow Food chooses the way of accessibility

On the occasion of the thirteenth edition of Terra Madre Salone del Gusto, for the press kit, the high readability EasyReading font has been chosen. The idea, born from the desire to make more accessible the gastronomic culture Slow Food has been promoting since 1986, matches with the choice to extend, spread and digitize the event in order for it to reach the widest possible population.

Covid-19 has changed all of our lives: it has changed the plans of each individual and community, forcing them to postpone or cancel events. The Salone del Gusto has been one of the few not to delay its date, in view of the forthcoming edition which will be held from October 2020 to April 2021, it decided to change the format in whole. No longer an event accessible only from Turin, but from all over the world, from all areas where an internet connection is available. While working in very different way and fields, the two entities moved and still moving for the culture to reach as many people as possible: Slow Food by its communication, courses and activities organized firsthand, EasyReading by distributing a font which facilitates reading to dyslexic people and not.

The two similar paths were meant to meet and having done it in this historical moment can only remind us that Covid-19, although it has created and accelerated some preexisting social gaps, has forced us to think and find a way for solving past problems on which the temporary emergency situation has shed light.
